Mongolian Expertise on the Global Stage: AIZoOM Contributes to AI4PEP Lecture Series

In a proud moment for the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) and the AIZoOM project, Mongolian expertise took center stage at the global AI4PEP Lecture Series.

Groundbreaking Diagnostic AI

On November 11th, 2025, Mr. Battamir Adilbish, MSc, delivered a highly engaging presentation titled "Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2 infection and its variants via SERS & AI" to an international audience of researchers, data scientists, and public health professionals.

Mr. Battamir, who serves as the President of the Mongolian Software Industry Association (MOSA) and is a prominent PhD candidate in diagnostic AI at MUST, was proudly put forward by the AIZoOM leadership to share local technological advancements with our global parent network.

Connecting the Technology to Public Health

His presentation detailed the innovative integration of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) with Artificial Intelligence to achieve rapid, highly accurate pathogen detection.

While his lecture focused specifically on SARS-CoV-2, the underlying AI-driven diagnostic methodologies discussed are highly relevant to the broader goals of the AIZoOM project. Mastering the application of Deep Learning to biological and chemical sensor data builds the exact technical capacity Mongolia needs to rapidly detect and respond to zoonotic threats like Yersinia pestis (Plague) in the future.

A Successful International Exchange

The speaking session was received with excellent feedback from the AI4PEP global community, sparking vibrant discussions on how machine learning models can accelerate laboratory diagnostics in resource-limited settings.

Prof. Tseren-Onolt Ishdorj, Principal Investigator of AIZoOM, emphasized the importance of this international knowledge-sharing:

"Showcasing our PhD candidates and industry leaders on the AI4PEP platform demonstrates Mongolia's growing capacity in medical Artificial Intelligence. We are not just adopting international technology; through projects like AIZoOM and researchers like Mr. Battamir, we are actively contributing new methodologies back to the global scientific community."
